Interview with Meredith Angwin

Author of: Shorting the Grid: The Hidden Fragility of Our Electric Grid.

Meredith knows the grid with years of experience both as a very active ratepayer and direct involvement in some of the bodies that make up the complex policy grid.

She has written the book Shorting the Grid: The Hidden Fragility of Our Electric Grid which I highly recommend. Her discussion of the Policy Grid and how that adds significantly to the fragility of our grid should be read by anyone concerned about reliable power.

She also has a substack The Electric Grandma (love the name) where she provides updates to what she sees coming on the grid. Well worth following.

In this interview we discuss four questions:

  1. What has changed since she wrote her book.

  2. What she thinks needs to change on the grid.

  3. What she thinks will change on the grid.

  4. Should we all get solar + batteries at home, out of pure self interest?

Let us know what you think in the comments.
