In this interview we discussed:
What Will does
What the energy policy is for Colorado
The various energy sources (mostly Wind, Solar, Nuclear, Gas, & Coal)
What to do when the Wind dies off
What’s coming in the future
A couple of specific key points Will raised:
Update: Will has provided studies showing that Wind + Gas backup does not emit more CO2 than just gas. Here’s my review of the below studies.
He stated that Wind + Gas backup provides cheaper electricity than just gas. I’ve run the numbers and… no.
He stated that we’re not going to use batteries in significant numbers. Definitely the right approach.
He stated that coal is being replaced with gas. This is accurate and a very good thing.
He said that Wind and Solar are complementary with Wind blowing more at night. I showed that this was incorrect in the podcast - click here if you want to see this on the eia website.
He said HB25-1040 is unneeded as the existing law does not constrain Nuclear except for county issued bonds.
