Rafe is the real deal - I know him personally. He's a tireless campaigner and has tried everything imaginable to get policy-makers to understand the wind drought problem.
Unlike most countries, we can't tap into our neighbours' electricity - because we occupy this whole continent. Eventually we'll have a system-black event and won't be able to reboot the grid because of an absence of synchronous generators.
But it never has been about "'carbon' emissions" - if it was, we'd be boycotting China...
