Liz Cheney for Speaker

The Democrats should support Cheney for Speaker of the House

While the House Speaker has always been a member of the House, there is no requirement that they be so. Any citizen can be the Speaker as long as they get 218 votes.

Let’s say the Republicans end up with 220 members

. There’s no way we get a Democratic speaker. All we can try to do is achieve the least bad option. But there are 215 Democratic members in this scenario.

So if all 215 said they would vote for Cheney, then all they need is for 3 Republican House members to also vote for Cheney and she’s speaker. If the Republican falls into an internal fight over McCarthy vs. Jordan, which is very likely, then this gives an out for the sane part of their caucus.

And she’s a very conservative Republican. Aside from her not bowing down to Trump, she’s a very good fit for the sane part of her party. And she would not be held hostage by the crazies.

Would it work? Probably not. Would it cause even more dissension within the Republican caucus? Big time!

Optimistic but quite possible.

I LOVE this idea.

Just offer committee chairs to enough GOPers and they will go with Liz.
