I’m on the spectrum with a fair amount of Asperger’s. It’s caused my numerous large problems and a ton of smaller problems. It definitely makes for a rougher life.
But I have managed to marry a wonderful wife (2nd time) and have 3 amazing daughters who are now grown and doing really well.
My wife over the decades has told me a lot. I still don’t understand what makes others tick, but it’s become 2nd nature to just do or not do what she has told me to in different situations. And so I interact with people better.
Well enough that we (my wife & I) founded, grew, and sold a very successful software company. And for the last 5 years of the company I was the CEO. And CEO is one of the hardest jobs in the world (my store here…).
For those of you that are autistic reading this - you can accomplish most anything. But… you’ll have to find your own way to success. What works for neurotypicals is often not what will work best for you. Reach for the stars. If you fall short you’ll still have made it to space.
